Biography
JM is based in Mumbai and heads up Actis's South Asian business and is a non-voting member of the investment committee for South Asia. JM has over 32 years of experience in the finance industry, including 17 years of private equity experience and 12 in development banking.
JM joined Actis in 1997, and was responsible for setting up the Mumbai office. He has led a number of successful investments, most notably Glenmark, UTI Bank, Sterling Hospital, Paras Pharmaceuticals and Avtec.
Prior to joining Actis, JM was senior vice president at Gujarat Venture Finance Ltd. (GVFL) in India. He joined GVFL in its formative stage and helped it raise its first three funds.
JM is a chemical engineer from IIT, Bombay and holds a Diploma in Finance from Institute of Chartered Financial Analysts of India.
