Murray has been part of the Africa team since he joined Actis in 2001. He is currently responsible for managing an investment team in London as well as overseeing Actis's operations in East Africa and developing our footprint in the Maghreb region. He chairs the African screening committee and continues to be involved across Africa through a range of investments and associations, covering the industrials, consumer, and resources sectors.  

 

Murray joined Actis after a 13-year investment career with 3i Group plc where he worked on a diverse range of investments in over 300 businesses across a range of industry sectors. Prior to working at 3i, Murray spent four years in the construction industry working on large infrastructure projects in Africa, Australia and Papua New Guinea.

 

Murray was a director of Rashidi El Mizan (Egypt), Flamingo Holdings (Kenya) and Starcomms (Nigeria) prior to their successful exits. He remains on the boards of DFCU (Uganda), BCR (Rwanda), Mineral Deposits Limited (Senegal), Copperbelt Holdings (DRC), and Candax (Tunisia).

 

Murray has an MBA from London Business School and a BSc in Engineering from Edinburgh University.
