Paras is a leading Indian fast moving consumer goods company manufacturing and marketing healthcare and personal care products. Paras produces a diverse range products in its manufacturing facilities located at Kalol (Gujarat) and Baddi (Himachal Pradesh). The new facility, located in a tax-free zone, is highly sophisticated and most production will shift to this facility within the next two years resulting in significant tax savings.
Paras distributes its products to approximately 40 countries. In the three years prior to Actis's investment, Paras' sales and EBITDA grew by 12%. This was primarily attributable to growth in personal care products (30% of sales).
Paras is well-known for successfully entering established product categories, often with strong international players, (as with Moov, a pain relief gel), and for creating new product categories (like Livon for hair detangling and Krack for soothing cracked soles of the feet). Moov and D'Cold are amongst the top 10 leading OTC brands and Moov is one of the 100 super-brands of India. The company has introduced a number of personal care products in the last three years in skincare, deodorants and hair care. SetWet is already a highly successful brand in hair gel and deodorants, while Recova is emerging as a major player in skincare.
