Since inception in January 2001, Suntech has rapidly increased its manufacturing capacity, becoming one of the world's top ten manufacturers of PV cell and module products based on production output. Suntech's PV systems are used in a wide range of applications, including communications and broadcasting, transportation, housing and military. Suntech sells its products to Germany, Spain, Italy, other EU nations, South Africa and China. 82% of total sales in 2005 were exported.
