Our history

c.70 years of experience in growth markets

Actis was established in 2004 after spinning out from CDC Group, the UK Government's development finance institution, established in 1948 to promote private sector investment in former British territories.

A track record of innovation and excellence

Our heritage has provided us with a uniquely detailed knowledge of our markets and an unrivalled network of contacts and advisors.  Many members of the Actis management and investment teams previously worked at CDC Group and bring years of experience of investing across Africa, Asia and Latin America.

Throughout its history, Actis has consistently applied an investment framework aimed at protecting capital and maximising returns through changing economic and market conditions.  Actis has US$6.6 billion of funds under management from over 200 institutional investors.
