“Actis has established a strong local presence in Brazil and built a team with whom I empathised right from the start. We share the same values, which define the ‘Actis way’ of doing business: looking for opportunities to create long-term value and make a positive impact.”
Carlos was drawn to a career in private equity in Brazil by the ample and diverse business opportunities this large and still underpenetrated market offers. He felt that private equity could do more than bring capital to a project: it could professionalise businesses, consolidate sectors and drive innovation in the market.
Carlos joined Actis’ São Paulo office in 2014, where he originates and manages the firm’s Brazilian portfolio. He recently led investments in Genesis, a grain testing business and Its’SEG, an insurance brokerage platform.
Carlos joined Actis from 3i, bringing eight years of experience in its private equity team in London and São Paulo. Prior to 3i he worked in Leveraged Finance and Loan Syndicate at Société Générale, and before that he was part of the Graduate Analyst Program at JPMorganChase.
Carlos is a Portuguese national and holds a Bachelor of Arts in Economics from Universidade Nova de Lisboa in Portugal.
