“Being on the ground and understanding local business dynamics means we can source the deals that lead to solid partnerships and great returns for investors.”
It’s Chu’s local market insight, gained from 13 years of working in Brazil that enables him to identify the businesses best placed to meet the needs of Brazil’s growing consumer class.
Chu joined Actis in 2007 and has helped establish the firm’s presence in Brazil. He joined Actis after nine years at Brazilian private equity fund, TMG Capital Partners, where he was a Partner and also Board Director of OdontoPrev, the largest dental care provider, Softway, the contact centre supplier and Conductor Tecnologia, a credit card processing outsourcer.
Prior to TMG, Chu worked at Arthur Andersen and HM Group, one of Brazil’s top three retailers, where he implemented the Consumer Financial Services for the retail group. He also worked for Vila Romana, Brazil’s largest men’s apparel manufacturer as Vice President of Retail and Finance, and consolidated the Giorgio Armani operation in Brazil.
Chu is a graduate in Business Administration from Fundação Getúlio Vargas and has a law degree from Universidade de São Paulo.
