Funke Okubadejo

Director, Real Estate

Office: Lagos

Team: Real Estate

Funke has always been interested in how economies develop over time – and in particular the progress that growth markets like Africa have made.

She began her professional career with Arthur Andersen in Nigeria, where her experience spanned assurance and business advisory with a focus on the manufacturing and telecoms sectors and services industries.

However, she’s also always been a believer in the power of private capital to catalyse economic development and unleash potential. That’s why in 2007, following six years with Africa Capital Alliance, a leading Nigerian private equity firm, she joined Actis.

It was Actis’ understanding of the challenges inherent in operating in growth markets – as well as our decades of experience working across these economies – that inspired Funke to unite her expertise and desire to make a positive difference, aligned to Actis’ values.

Based in Actis’ Lagos office, Funke has been involved in a number of investments including Heritage Place, a Grade A office development in Lagos and Laurus Development Partners, a real estate development platform set to change the face of commercial building in West Africa.

Funke is a qualified Chartered Accountant and holds a Bachelor of Science in Chemical Engineering from the University of Lagos and a Masters in Finance from the London Business School.

Actis’ commitment to strengthening ESG practices runs deep. It’s not just a nice tag line or something we pay lip service to, it’s a daily responsibility. And making a difference to the lives of ordinary citizens through sustainable investment is something that brings me considerable satisfaction.
