Alberto Estefan, Partner, Energy Infrastructure at Actis, commented:

“Both gas as a transition fuel and renewables will continue to drive decarbonisation. There is still more than 20GW of coal, diesel and fuel-oil fired capacity that will eventually be displaced.

“Critically, proposals are under development for the private sector to build new generation, particularly renewables in a combination of [new] contracting mechanisms.”
