Davi Carvalho Mota, Managing Director, Long Life Infrastructure at Actis, commented:
“We first started to look at the transmission line space in Brazil roughly four to five years ago. The things that caught our attention are that it is quite a sizeable sector – we’re talking about over 200,000km of existing grid networks – and it’s quite compelling from a growth perspective when we look at the installed base. The regulatory framework was established in the late 90s. Fast-forward 25-plus years and we’ve seen that almost 100 percent – with a few exceptions – of the transmission network is in the hands of private capital. So, there is a long track record in this sector in attracting and dealing with private capital.”
