Mark Nielsen

Mark joined Actis in 2019 as Head of Banking. He has a broad involvement across the Actis portfolio covering financing, M&A, and exit related activities.

Mark has spent over 20 years in investment banking, joining Actis from Nomura International plc, where he was a Managing Director in the financial sponsor team and worked extensively with a number of large cap private equity firms.

Mark has a financing background, having spent the first eight years of his career at Deutsche Bank in both project finance, then acquisition and leveraged finance. He continued in acquisition and leveraged finance for a further five years with Lehman Brothers and Nomura.

In 2011, Mark became responsible for a number of Nomura’s private equity clients across M&A, equity, debt and hedging products.During his career, he worked on a range of landmark European leveraged buyouts including the take-private of Stada AG by Cinven / Bain, Apollo’s acquisition of Verallia, the take-private of ProSiebenSat.1 by KKR / Permira and many others.

Mark holds a Masters of Mechanical Engineering degree from the University of Durham.
