Prerna Kakar

Principal

Office: London

Team: Long Life Infrastructure

As a Principal at Actis, Prerna is responsible for investments across sustainable infrastructure sectors in the Middle East and Africa, based out of the London office.

Since joining Actis in 2020, Prerna has had the opportunity to help drive the firm’s entry into new markets and sectors. In particular, she has worked on a number of transactions in the district energy, toll roads, and water sectors across key markets in Middle East, Africa, and Asia, helping to formulate the firm’s investment theses in these new growth areas. Recently, Prerna was a key member of the deal team that originated and closed the firm’s investment in Emicool, a leading district energy business in the UAE.

Before joining Actis, Prerna worked at General Electric (GE) where she helped design and execute high-value commercial and growth initiatives to drive top-line growth across key business units (including energy, transport, and healthcare) in the complex and fast-growing Middle East and Africa region. Prior to this, Prerna worked as a management consultant in Deloitte Consulting’s Strategy & Operations practice out of New York City, where she worked on several strategic client engagements for leading companies across a diverse range of sectors.

Prerna holds an MBA from Harvard Business School, and is a graduate of the dual-degree Jerome Fisher Program in Management & Technology at the University of Pennsylvania as part of which she earned a degree in Finance from the Wharton School and a degree in Bio-Engineering from Penn’s School of Engineering & Applied Sciences.
