“The only sustainable way to lift people out of poverty is by encouraging the development of a thriving private sector.”
Ramon has always had a personal interest in growth markets, especially in Africa. This interest was piqued in October 2010 when he and his family visited Uganda to attend the graduation of a student they had sponsored through university. Ramon saw first-hand not only the energy and potential of the people, but how easily this could be stifled by a lack of infrastructure and opportunity.
Ramon joined Actis in 2012, where he supports deal teams in all aspects of debt raising and restructuring and coordinates our banking relationships globally. Given his investment banking background, he also assists our deal teams in the execution of FX/interest rate hedging, IPO and M&A processes and is a member of the Exit Committee.
Ramon joined Actis from Barclays Capital where he worked as a Managing Director in the Financial Sponsors Group. He previously worked at Morgan Stanley and UBS Warburg and began his career at Ernst & Young, qualifying as a Chartered Accountant in 2000.
He graduated from the University of Aberdeen with a BSc (Hons) in Statistics.
